Mr. Markel brings over 40 years of experience in the general engineering construction industry. In 1971 he became Vice President of Jezowski and Markel Contractor’s Inc. (a family owned business) managing various curb and gutter installation projects in Southern California. In 1980, Mr. Markel formed Santa Ana Valley Contractor’s which he served as President and Owner. The company specialized in gravity flow irrigation systems, storm drain installation and decorative concrete. In 1984, Mr. Markel joined Ortega Rock as General Sale’s Manager, where Ortega Rock was the only active rock quarry in Orange county Specializing in rip rap materials. In 1986, Mr. Markel joined Gillespie Construction Company as Vice President. He managed the grading, undergrounding of utilities and street construction of Coto de Caza and Santa Margarita. In 1994, Mr. Markel joined SJC Construction / RSM Management as Vice President, managing all offsite construction for all projects within two communities of Rancho Santa Margarita. Mr. Markel joined Rancho Mission Viejo Company in 1998 to run the construction and development operations within the Ranch, where he coordinated and managed engineers, oversaw the bidding process and awarding contracts for Ladera Ranch. In 2008, he retired and joined Steve Murow to complement the expert witness and litigation support team.
